Piancavallo

Piancavallo is a mountain resort situated in a large basin exposed to the sun at an altitude of 1,300 metres and is within easy reach of the Holiday Farmhouse.

Established as a winter sports centre in the early 1960s, its architecture is modern and functional, with several examples of inventive and innovative buildings, and it is overlooked by a ring of peaks that are among the highest in the piedmont area, culminating in Cimon del Cavallo (2251m).

It is an international-level ski resort and can easily be reached from the Holiday Farmhouse (it is about thirty kilometres away). As both a winter and summer tourist centre it offers a range of possible activities: downhill and cross-country skiing, ice-skating (PalaPredieri) and piste skating, riding and canoeing in nearby Valcellina.

And thanks to a programmed snow system there is always plenty of snow. Piancavallo also offers an unrivalled natural setting for all those who enjoy trekking.

It is easy to get from Piancavallo to lake Barcis and Prescudin forest. The wood at Cansiglio, the Friulian Dolomites regional nature park, the Forra del Cellina nature reserve, the green grottoes at Pradis and the park at San Floriano are also within easy reach.
