Pordenone

Pordenone is located about 20 minutes by car from our farm holiday Le Favole.

It is a modern city of great artistic interest, with a beautiful old town characterized by painted palaces, elegant arcades, frescoes, monuments and cozy cafes.

Pordenone is also the birthplace of Giovanni Antonio Sacchis, known as Pordenone, the greatest Renaissance painter from Friuli region.

The history of Pordenone (the ancient Portus Naonis) is still linked today to the Noncello, a watercourse that for centuries has been navigable and essential for the economic development of the city.

Pordenone is also an important cultural reality on the Italian scene and not only: Pordenonelegge, the Giornate del Cinema Muto (“Days of Silent Cinema”) or Dedica Festival (literally convention) are just one example of international events.

A short distance from the city you reach a large green area, the Galvani Park, which incorporates the residence of the Galvani family built at the end of the eighteenth century. The villa has been restored and enlarged with a new structure, PArCo, home of Armando Pizzinato’s Modern and Contemporary Art Gallery.

The Galvani Park also includes a small lake on whose bank there is the Museum of the Ancient Rose Route, MIRA, where you can admire many varieties of roses and rose gardens.
