Lignano

Summer is undoubtedly the best time to visit Lignanoand it is within easy reach of the Holiday Farmhouse, thanks to the convenient four-lane highway that links it to the mainland and in particular to the Serenissima A4 motorway, the Venezia Trieste route.

It lies about seventy kilometres from Sacile. Lignano has a wealth of yachting facilities, which are among the most modern in Europe, with roughly five thousand boat berths and eight wet docks. It has a shore and a beach divided into three areas (Sabbiadoro, Pineta and Riviera), which extend for about eight kilometres.

It is popular with tourists, attracting some four million a year, many of whom come from various countries abroad. Lignano is a great favourite with young people on account of the variety of entertainments it offers, the range of sports facilities and its special environmental features. It lies on a peninsula shaped by the mouth of the Tagliamento river and by the ancient network of Adriatic streams, between the open sea and the Lagoon of Marano, along the northern shore of the Gulf of Venice.

The luxuriant vegetation of Lignano is characterised by trees native to the region or that have been growing on the peninsula for many years: rows of holm-oaks along the seafront, black pines – either of the domestic or umbrella variety – lime trees, Siberian elms, birches, plane-trees and horse chestnuts.
